Bearwallow Mountain Traders, Chimney Rock, NC

     Bearwallow Mountain Traders, is a "must see" shop for rustic interiors.  Located at the eastern end of Chimney Rock Village, and open all year, all the relaxed comforts of log cabins, Adirondack camps and lake house living can be found here!  A visit makes you want to kick off your boots and relax in an Old Hickory rocker or a twig settee in front of a cozy winter fire.  Classic bamboo fly rods, creels and other fly fishing equipment can be tried out in the Rocky Broad River just across the street.  Vintage Beacon camp blankets and Indian Trade blankets (Hudson Bay and Pendleton) are our specialty.  Vintage oars, canoe paddles, snow skis, snowshoes, and pack baskets are always great finds to add that "North Woods" feeling to your home.
     Second generation antiques dealers Judy Hudson and Norwood Barnes willingly share their years of knowledge and offer help with selections.  If your need for furniture cannot be met with antique pieces, they will arrange special orders from contemporary makers of Hickory and Twig.

Bubba O'Leary's General Store, Chimney Rock, NC

     Step back in time at Bubba O'Leary's General Store.  Reach into the old drink cooler for an ice cold small Coke, or enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee for a dime.  Big and little kids will go for the large selection of nostalgic sweets and treats including penny candy that actually costs a penny!
     Other necessities range from overalls to iron frying pans and weathervanes to Rosebud salve.  Bubba's has "all of what you need and most of what you want".  Bubba even has an Outfitter's located across the street for hiking boots, clothing, and anything else to outfit you for your mountain treks.

Edie's Good Things, Chimney Rock, NC

     There are treasures in the mountains of western North Carolina.  But not in the traditional sense. The wealth lies in the extraordinary talents of artists and crafters throughout Western North Carolina.
     Edie Davis, owner of Edie's Good Things, recognized the nearly unknown wealth of cultural talent and artistry when she settled in the Village of Chimney Rock, North Carolina. She created the gallery which is geared to exclusively showcase the work of crafters and artists in the Carolinas. The gallery, Edie's Good Things, specializes in hand-woven basketry, hand-thrown pottery and clay pieces, hand-blown glass, hand-carved wood, hand-made metal pieces, and much more. Each piece is unique, some, one of a kind, and true pieces of art. Some of the artists have won prestigious awards.
     Business hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. You would certainly be missing out if you didn’t visit the gallery when traveling through the area.

Featherheads, Chimney Rock, NC

     Located in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge, Featherheads has been a destination for many travelers for nearly 10 years now.  Some say that spending time in this shop is like spending time in spirit.  One of their logos is "It's more than a shop, it's a vibration."  Owner Kimberly Sherrill notes that it is the visitors who help to create that.
     Specializing in local Native American Artists work, Featherheads also carries local potters and jewelry makers, along with some traditional crafts.  They also have a large range of stones from all over the world, native and metaphysical books as well as one of the southeast's largest selections of Native American music.
