Find the Best of the Mountains in one place at Chimney Rock Park. This privately-owned scenic attraction near Asheville, NC, offers spectacular 75-mile views from overlooks accessible to everyone by either stairways and bridges or a 26-story elevator built inside the mountain.
There are 3.5 miles of hiking trails, a 404-foot waterfall, Nature Center, picnic areas, unique rock formations, rare plant life and more. You can get a feel for the incredible scenery found along the hiking trails in the Park by viewing the last 17 minutes of the movie, "The Last of the Mohicans" starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeleine Stowe.

Dive into Lake Lure

     Step on board these luxurious boats and discover why National Geographic named Lake Lure one of the "ten most spectacular man-made lakes in the world."      Think all of the recreation at Lake Lure has to do with water? Think again! Our new Fun Center is loaded with excitement for all ages.      A gracious welcome for guests has always been a dominant theme of Southern hospitality, and nowhere is that welcome greater than at Green River Plantation.
    Upon entering the carriage gate, visitors encounter the enticing sights and sensations of an era long past come alive against the backdrop of the stately 19th century home. Winding through towering oaks and ancient boxwoods, a handsome drive provides the first glimpse of the 42-room mansion across an expansive lawn bordered by tranquil lagoons.
     The first portion of the mansion was constructed in 1804 by Joseph McDowell Carson and later additions were added with completion following the Civil War.
     The house is currently owned by William and Ellen Cantrell. Today, the estate is open to the public and the Cantrells are enjoying sharing the rich heritage of the plantation as well as the elegance of its newly restored interiors with their guests.
